The Bucharest Early Music Festival is a unique event, harmonizing rare and delightful archaic sounds from the Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque ages. Apart from the well-known, erudite pre-classical genres, the alluring Byzantine and Gregorian sounds are also revealed.

Already at the fourth edition, the Festival is the only one of this kind in Bucharest, and its delicate Eastern personality makes it unequalled amongst other similar European festivals. All the artists invited in the festival perform early music in an authentic manner, with historical instruments (lute, Renaissance guitar, violin, harpsichord, harp) and at each concert a moderator will interactively present historical and musical facts.

In more than one week, daily concerts will be held in exquisite buildings and concert halls from Bucharest.

The festival, along with its musical success, uncovered a large area of public, already familiarized with natural early music performing (traditional, church and religious music) and with comparable events from Europe and Romania.

Besides the conventional public, the festival is joining some of the most famous performers and artists, giving birth to various professional opportunities for musicians specialized in early music.

One of the main goals of the Bucharest Early Music Festival is to uncover and illustrate the early music reviving, already common in the Western Europe. Willing to offer a new perspective for students, professional musicians and general public, all these genres are performed by the world’s leading musicians, acquainted with historical facts on period singing or playing, orchestral performance, costumes and staging.

Another goal is the educational process, naturally happening during the festival, by joining the early music concept with: authentic instruments and musical manners, amazing classic buildings and concert halls, charming outfits, interactive presentations about early music, instruments, musical evolution and composers.
